White-tailed Deer

(Odocoileus virginianus)

This skull was found on my family's old property in around 2021, dug up out of a pile of remains that had been curled at the base of a tree in a clearing for many years. At one point, I'm fairly sure it was crushed under a tractor doing work in the clearing. Luckily, it remained mostly unharmed, though the rest of the bones were not so lucky and had to remain in their resting place.

It's missing the frontal portion of the face, and the matching jaw (which I have half of) is missing the incisors. From my best guess, this deer was around 1.5-3 years of age.
