My first introduction to horror was when I was younger, with a well known classic: Goosebumps. I read every single one I could get my hands on. That was around 2016-2017. At this time, as some might remember, the story of Momo started to go around the internet, and it was a hit at the school I went to at the time. It was my first exposure to a horror concept that, to me, was purely told by word of mouth. A year later, in 2018, the creation of Siren Head blew my mind as someone who had only recently started to frequent online spaces. This wonderful timeline of media was the main motivator for me to begin looking into horror as a genre I was more fascinated by. Ever since then, even 10 years later, it is still my favorite kind of art to seek out.

My favorite subgenres nowadays include: Psychological horror, cosmic horror, and anything in the religious/folk/Southern horror sphere. The aspect I struggle with most within horror has got to be gore. I can read most descriptions of it with no issue, but the moment there's blood in a film I have to push past my discomfort, no matter how little is shown. I'm working on becoming less sensitive to it, while still maintaining an understanding of its severity. I don't want to become completely desensitized to it.
